The Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) is dedicated to promoting public interest law as a practice and as a philosophy. To this end, PILF funds summer internships in the public sector so that law students may serve their communities. The goal of this funding is two-fold. By providing law students with summer stipends, PILF enables service-oriented individuals to pursue employment opportunities in traditionally unpaid and low-salaried areas. Many students would not otherwise have the financial means to do so. PILF stipends simultaneously support the work most needed in today’s world. For over 25 years, PILF has supported organizations that uphold civil liberties, protect human rights and deliver justice.
Philosophy
- Law is a powerful tool that can and should be used to uphold civil liberties, protect human rights and deliver justice.
- Whether it is for a summer or a lifetime, every lawyer should have the opportunity to give back to his or her community.
- It is the privilege and responsibility of the legal community to foster those who seek to pursue a career in service or others.
With these philosophies in mind, PILF works zealously to make public service possible for each student attending Boston College Law School.
